Celebrating Summer Film Slate with Lifetime’s Summer Soirée
This Article was updated on July 21, 2025 by Erica Vain

I had a really, really fun time at the Lifetime Summer Soirée! This was my first official Lifetime event, and it exceeded all my expectations in the most wonderful way.
The Perfect Setting
The event took place at the stunning Santa Monica Proper Hotel, and honestly, the location couldn’t have been more perfect. The rooftop views were absolutely incredible – with such a clear day, you could see all the way down to Palos Verdes, and of course, being in Santa Monica, that gorgeous ocean view was right there. The temperature was ideal, the ambiance was welcoming, and the entire atmosphere felt so thoughtfully curated.
A Night of Connection
While we didn’t get to preview any of the films, the event provided something even more valuable – genuine moments to connect with the stars of the upcoming projects and congratulate them on their work. I actually attended with a writer-director friend of mine who I hadn’t seen in a while, so it provided the perfect backdrop for us to reconnect while also networking with others in the filmmaking world.

The crowd was beautifully diverse, and you could feel the strong sense of community. From the red carpet moments to the various photo opportunities, everything felt authentic and engaging. The food was amazing, the desserts were incredible, and the drinks were top-notch – Lifetime really knew how to host an event!
The Talent and Programming
What struck me most was getting to engage with the Lifetime brand in a completely different way than just being an audience member watching films on screen. I really got a feel for what the company culture might be like, and I genuinely liked what I experienced.

The summer slate they’re presenting is truly impressive in its diversity and storytelling:
Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolley Story (premiering July 19th) stars Chrissy Metz and Colin Moss in what promises to be a gripping retelling of the devastating 2018 Paradise, California fire. The film chronicles the heroic journey of EMS provider Nichole Jolley, who risked everything to save residents during California’s deadliest wildfire at that time.
Before Your Father Finds Us (July 26th) features Alexa PenaVega and Tamon Penikett in what looks like an edge-of-your-seat thriller about a mother and daughter who must survive when an ex-husband and prison escapee threatens their safety.
I was particularly excited to run into Kat Graham at the event! Her upcoming film Terrie Blackstock’s: If I Run (August 2nd) has her playing Casey Cox, a woman on the run after being framed for her best friend’s murder. The faith element in the storyline sounds compelling.
But I’m most looking forward to Finding Faith (August 9th) starring Paula Patton. The story of a woman rebuilding her life and faith after her husband’s sudden death, with the support of family and community, feels like exactly the kind of meaningful storytelling that resonates with audiences.

The Lifetime Network
One of the most impressive aspects of the evening was seeing the strong network of talent support around Lifetime. Megan Good, who had a film premiere with them last summer and continues working with the network as an executive producer, was there supporting the current projects. You could really see how talent genuinely wants to be part of what Lifetime is doing – not just for individual projects, but as ongoing creative partnerships.
There were people at the event supporting not only the projects being discussed publicly, but also talent working on upcoming projects. It speaks to Lifetime’s ability to cultivate lasting relationships in the industry.

Final Thoughts
This beautifully thought-out event in such a lovely space really demonstrated Lifetime’s commitment to both their talent and their audience. They’ve done an incredible job diversifying their programming slate, and seeing so many different types of stories on the horizon is genuinely exciting.
As of this posting, Chrissy Metz’s “Faith in the Flames” has already premiered and is available to watch on Lifetime now. The other three films will be premiering throughout the rest of the summer, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how each of these compelling stories unfolds on screen.
The entire experience reminded me why I love this industry – the power of storytelling, the importance of community, and the magic that happens when creative people come together to celebrate meaningful content.
