All American Homecoming Season 3 Premiere a confusing start to a highly anticipated season…

Diving right into the All American Homecoming Season 3 premiere. This time jump of one year and three months, takes us right into the sophomore year, ending sophomore year, going into junior year, and boy, does all hell break loose.

The Trustees and Their Decisions

The trustees at Bringston decide that the president is merely a figurehead, so they’re going to make some decisions. They’re tired of the athletic excellence, even though not enough teams have won championships. So, they’re going to cut the team that specifically won a championship and has an MLB hopeful on it. They’re going to focus on trying to be the Harvard of the South.

Thea Mays: The New Layla Keaton?

Thea Mays, our pro athlete, is carted all the way from North Carolina, where she was competing in a match. She stops what she’s doing, two states over, to say goodbye to her favorite pitcher, Damon. It’s laughable, y’all. Thea Mays is the new Layla Keaton, and I don’t mean that in a good way. Everything that I hate that they did to the Layla character, they are doing to Thea. While it’s always great to see Camille Hyde (who plays Thea Mays) it is unfortunate her character was included in the premiere only to prop up Damon’s story while also not authentically addressing any of her own feelings that could be present given the chaotic circumstances that became the Thea-Damon-Simone-Lando quadrangle of love.

Simone Hicks Pulling an Olivia Baker

Simone Hicks is in her Olivia Baker bag, y’all. She’s working right out of the Olivia Baker playbook down to the goddamn article that just had to make happen and indirectly causing another team implode in the process. Simone stands on business, regardless that Coach Lonnie told her to stand down. Regardless that everybody around her said, “Girl, let it play out.” She had to go over there and kick the bear. Y’all know good and damn well that’s some Olivia Baker ish. But it’s all good because her efforts saved tennis, so later for any collateral damage, huh?

Keisha and JR’s Relationship

Keisha has this weird, like, overbearing-ness to JR that they actually do explain. She donated bone marrows to him, so now I understand why she’s all up in his face like she’s his best friend. It was getting a little uncomfortable for me given they both are in seemingly healthy relationships and their romantic chemistry is peeking through with the “I care for you” energy, but now I get it.

Cam and Keisha’s Relationship

Cam and Keisha have been going great for the last year and three months. Cam is still working for Auntie Amara as her assistant, still in school, but also writing songs for some record label. Good for you, Cam, we love it.

Damon and Simone’s Breakup

And if that wasn’t enough, Damon, Simone hit you with a, “You know what babe, it’s fine because you’re going to get an offer, and it’s going to be great.” But then Damon’s going to the DR, and Simone’s like, “Well, I had said any part of the United States, and you know what, you should focus on you, and I should focus on because you’re going to be great, but I’m going to be greater without your ass.” So y’all put them together just to break them apart.
