‘Beyond The Gates’ Episode 64 Recap: Eva’s Betrayal & Dana’s Downfall

Eva Thomas Has Me HEATED

Let me rip the Band-Aid off, y’all – Eva is losing me with her choices in this episode. I’ve been sympathetic to her struggle dealing with Leslie (Dana) Thomas as a mother, but taking that helmet and using it as leverage against Dana instead of immediately going to the police or handing it to Jacob? Girl, what are you doing?

How much of your mama’s crazy do you actually enjoy? This helmet could be your ticket out – proof that you want nothing to do with her schemes. But instead, you’re keeping potential evidence, preventing the case from progressing and your mother from being held accountable.

I get it. She’s your mama. But how many times has this woman thrown you out in the last two weeks? How many times has she told you that you were basically gum on her shoe? And now you’re going to blackmail and extort her?

If you were truly committed to living a good life, reconnecting with your dad and wanting peace, you would’ve taken that helmet straight to the police station. But you’re hiding it somewhere (we don’t even see where in this episode), and now I’m genuinely pissed with you. I’ve been rooting for you all this time, had so much empathy for you these last three weeks since everything went down.

Ambyr Michelle has been giving us beautiful performances as Eva, but in this episode, I’m officially on her case because she literally has the key evidence that Kat has been desperately searching for, and she’s playing games with it. Don’t play with me, Eva!

Dana Thomas Finally Gets Her Comeuppance

I’m fully invested in Dana’s mental evolution throughout this episode. Watching her transform from smug confidence to unhinged panic was absolute chef’s kiss – almost cinematic. When she first encounters the Richardsons, she’s just laughing and cackling, acting like everything they’re saying is hilarious.

When they mention going to the police, Dana says, “You know what? I’m gonna go with you.” I was like, “What are you actually talking about, miss girl?” For me, she clearly went down there to gather intel on what Kat is saying so she could figure out how to get around it.

But then she sees the receipts come out, and suddenly she’s spiraling because things are getting too close to home. Next thing you know, she’s talking about needing a restraining order because she’s “tired of being bullied.” Weren’t you just tickled before? Didn’t you just say they were hilarious? But now you’re mad, storming out, rushing home to check on evidence that—surprise!—isn’t there anymore.

I absolutely love that Dana is finally on the defense because Beyond The Gates has shown her on the offense this entire time, running amok like a complete menace to society. Now we’ve finally got her on her toes, and I’m here for it.

That Face-to-Face Moment Had Me GASPING

When Dana tried to leave Aubrey Jeans and ran into Nicole? Baby, when I tell you these actresses are ACTING! I gasped right along with them as they came face to face. The heat brimming off Nicole’s eyebrows at the sight of this woman!

Nicole, you’re too classy for me because Dana would have caught a two-piece and a biscuit from me just off reaction alone. I would have hit her and then realized afterward why I did it. Nicole is so classy and composed.

The amount of anger and frustration Nicole must feel, especially knowing that Dana almost took Laura’s life TWICE—I don’t know how anybody walks up on Dana without punching her dead in the jaw before the hello even falls out of her mouth!

Jacob Is Putting in WORK

Meanwhile, Jacob’s been working with another detective who specializes in breaking down police footage and matching evidence. Cat bringing in the jacket was clutch, even though her DNA is on it from trying it on. Regardless, they’re using technology to confirm it’s a perfect match.

They still need the additional evidence—that helmet—to properly pin this on Leslie instead of Cat, since Cat’s DNA is all over everything, putting her on the suspect list. But Jacob is definitely doing what he needs to do, and I love that for him. That investigation is clicking along nicely in the background.

Anita and Sharon’s Mystery Has Me FRUSTRATED

The long-drawn-out background story this episode involves Anita finally having that conversation with Sharon—and Sharon has WAY more smoke than Tracy did! You would think Tracy was the best friend compared to how hot and resentful Sharon came in.

But we STILL haven’t gotten to the bottom of what the actual betrayal was. So Anita went solo, they had to sign NDAs, got a payout, and she abandoned them afterward. Okay, but what was the actual act that constitutes this betrayal? If going solo was the betrayal, I don’t know if it’s worth all this vitriol.

What is Sharon saying that Vernon doesn’t know? What would change how he sees Anita? Can we please get to it already? We spent this whole episode talking around it while Sharon emptied the entire clip on Anita, who just stood there taking every shot.

Sharon threatens to tell Vernon and everyone else everything they don’t know about Anita Dupree, and I’m like, “Please do!” because I need this on the table. Everyone’s talking around it with all this animosity. Sharon looks like she wants to swing on Anita—I need Beyond The Gates to reveal it already! They’ve dangled this carrot in front of us for too long.

Chelsea, Please Stop Pissing Me Off

Oh my God, Chelsea! Stop pissing me off! There she is at Orphey Jeans, confiding in her granddaddy about this “relationship” that was never a relationship. You were sleeping with married people on some freaky stuff (no shade, because that’s what you like and what all y’all consenting adults agreed to). Now you’re mad that the wife involved doesn’t want to leave her husband for you?

The way she’s stuck on stupid about this, running around talking about “the relationship I was in”—girl, bye! You was not in a relationship. I guess the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with all the drama in this family. But Chelsea’s simplicity is on full display in how she’s reeling over not being able to take a married woman from her husband after some threesomes.

Beyond The Gates episode 64 had me feeling ALL the emotions, from frustration with Eva to satisfaction seeing Dana squirm. And now I need to hurry up and get to the next episode because y’all know I’m playing catch up!
