The Family Business Season 5: Elijah’s Revenge for Brother Minister

Well, well, well, if it isn’t another plot twist in “Carl Weber’s The Family Business”. In Season 5, Episode 8, Donna makes her bones by taking out Brother Minister. Y’all know what that means, right? Elijah is going to have to retaliate. And boy, is that going to be one hell of a showdown.

Donna, The Unexpected Assassin

Donna, the love of Elijah’s life’s biological mama, has done the unthinkable. She’s taken out Brother Minister, the leader of one of the organizations that sit at the table. Now, I don’t know about y’all, but in my book, that’s absolutely not okay. It’s given no, no, and more no. You don’t get to take out the leader of any organization and then get to walk away from it scot-free unless you’re Consuela.

Elijah’s Revenge

But let’s talk about Elijah. I absolutely adore Elijah. I think he’s one of the most complex characters on “The Family Business”. He’s going to have to step up and take revenge. The problem is, he’s going to have to take revenge on the woman who birthed the love of his life. This is where things get complicated. This isn’t just about putting a bullet in someone who put a bullet in Brother Minister. This is about fighting all the feelings, all the love, all the regret, all the shame, and all the guilt that comes from not only falling in love with this woman’s biological daughter but also the guilt and shame of not being able to protect her.

The Emotional Tug-of-War

It’s going to be a tough call for Elijah. On one hand, he’s got to avenge Brother Minister’s death. On the other, he’s got to deal with the fact that the person responsible is connected to him in such a profound way. It’s like trying to choose between a rock and a hard place.

Donna’s Fate

Now, I don’t want Donna to die. I think Lisa Rae, who plays Donna, is a beautiful component to this story and the cast of the show. Losing her would harm the show more than her death would help it. But her putting two in Brother Minister has definitely earned her a ticket to the chopping block.

Elijah’s Moral Dilemma

Elijah, being the man of a certain code, a man of certain morality, a man of loyalty, will ultimately have to make a decision. And it’s not going to be an easy one. He might get assistance from other Duncan’s to help him make this decision, but at the end of the day, it’s his call to make.

The Aftermath

With Brother Minister gone, Elijah may have to step up and lead the brotherhood in his place. This is a role he may not want, but it would certainly add another layer to his character. It would also bring him back onto our screens in a more regular tone and cadence, which I would not be opposed to.
