We created a Facebook page awhile back about the direction of The Game since its return on BET. We strongly believe that Akil productions and BET used the show as a stepping stool for other projects and ventures. The Akils to become a “well -known” production company and BET to develop better programming. Since the signing with
BET, the Akils have produced Jumping the Broom and Sparkleand paid very little attention to the current state of the show. This ultimately lead to what we believe is the demise of the show. Yes, its just a tv show, however its bigger than that. BET lacks integrity and fails to provide a positive representation for the African American community. Since the show returned to BET, we’ve seen a “ghetto” Brandy, a gun toting, kush smoking, sex addicted, angry black woman in Tasha, a drunk in Malik and a marriage that seems to have an issue every other
week with Melanie and Derwin. Not to mention the sudden exit of the only white cast member -Brittany Daniels, which is questionable. We received sloppily written story lines that lack continuity, bad lighting and poorly directed episodes. This is sad as television shows on a whole are on a decline especially shows that are a reflection
of our community. The show declines in viewers every week, now averaging 1.9 million viewers, down from 7.7 million in two seasons. Both BET and the Akils should be ashamed in their selfish plot, after we the fans fought for the shows return. We’ve reached out to both BET and the Akils on Twitter and Facebook in the past, which resulted in us being blocked, along with anyone that posted constructive criticism of the show. BET, Deborah Lee and the Akils along with any other future production company should pay attention to the fans, and the quality of programming they provide, if not, this will not be the last show that will quickly fail under BET’s umbrella.Signed-

When I initially heard the news about Tia & Pooch’s departure I was truly angry…. Disappointed !!!!! However I have been trying to find the understanding and compassion it takes to detach myself as a fan and truly be human. Tia & Pooch have a right to pursue other endeavors. And Like the Aforementioned letter says, “The Game” that started out on The CW which was invigorating, innovative, captivating and endearing is not the same show that is on BET.
I will continue to watch because I do enjoy a few storylines that BET introduced such as Malik and Jenna and Jason and Chardonnay but it will never be the same without Derwin and Melaine. It’s like we are losing “The Game” all over again…. Wow….. It’s like we are losing “Girlfriends” all over again. From the wording that I have noticed in the interviews though who knows if this change will be permeant. I mean Brittany Daniels took a season and a half off so maybe Tia is planning to do the same. I am just hoping that if a reunion will happen in the future the show survives that long without mainstays like Melanie and Derwin so that it can happen.

After five seasons on ‘The Game,’ Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry will not return as regular cast members on season six on BET Networks. As a result of Pooch’s involvement on a new project, BET is in the process of reworking the casting and storyline of the show. That said, we hope both Pooch and Tia will make several guest appearances.
While we (will) miss the incredible adventures of Melanie and Derwin on ‘The Game,’ we appreciate all of their hard work, the laughs and wish them both the best on their future endeavors.

I am so angry about Pooch and Tia not returning to the Game. I must say that we put the power of our words and voices into action for this show to be brought back. I don’t think we rallied together this much for communities the way we did for this show (smile). This shows just how much the fans loved and are dedicated to the show. I agree this show is over. It was a. Spin-off from Girlfriends ( Melanie was Joan niece that had just moved to Cali). Erica you are right the storylines were all over the place that were poorly directed and did not flow. Though they portrayed Malik in that way, let’s be honest much of what he was going through happens in the world of sports. I love Derwin and Melanie it was a long road for them. I would not want them to change a thing about them. Tasha is the comic relief , but she was starting to get a little too ghetto on the show. She moves out of the house into a hotel…… What is that! No Tasha Mack Management. Brit brat is where? The Akils should take care of their baby… Yes Mara has done a lot but The Game broke records, respect that, honor that. It’s not a question of them being okay. We know they will be just find. It is the sadness, the hurt that the dedicated fans are feeling. We fought for this show, it was our show. Bet should honor the dedication of the actors who took a pay cut to do what they love, to give the fans what they demanded. PAY THEM WHAT THEY DESERVE. IT IS NOT A GOOD LOOK FOR OUR NETWORK TO NOT PAY OUR ACTORS FAIRLY. If viewers are dropping that is not because of poor acting but the direction, producing and storylines written. I myself would have never wanted this show to end. The Game could be like The soaps, on for 15-20 years….. That is how much I loved that show. If the soaps can last that long why can’t we!!!! Also to say that Pooch Hall is busy with another project is crap. Colby Bell does Burn Notice and Tia pregnant and all taped both shows, it can be tough but actors do it all the time. Never be the same, the love affair has ended. Thanks BET for destroying and breaking hearts of dedicated viewers
Omg you are so passionate about the show…. I can’t blame you because I am to…. I have been hooked since they introduced the show as a semi-girlfriends spin off way back win… And after girlfriends ended I clung to “The Game” like a dog to a bone… I remember making the videos and petitioning online because it was a GREAT SHOW!!!! A Fresh Show….. Now I worry about where the show will go next especially missing two of the main characters…. Thanks for your comment girl!
