Ava Duvernay Walks Away from SciFi Dreamworks Film + Blake Lively is Escaping Paradise in ‘The Shallows’

Ava DuVernay, the amazingly talented beautiful spirited female filmmaker behind Selma, has walked away from Intelligent Life. The film is a sci-fi DreamWorks starring Lupita Nyong’o which centers on a United Nations employee who monitors outer space and makes contact with a beautiful woman who may be an alien.


Director Colin Trevorrow and his collaborator Derek Connolly wrote the script and DuVernay recently joined the film (February).  She is reportedly bowing out due to scheduling conflicts.

Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is producing the project along with Frank Marshall, Trevorrow and the production banner Big Beach.


When Nancy (Blake Lively) is attacked by a great white shark while surfing alone, she is stranded just a short distance from shore. Though she is only 200 yards from her survival, getting there proves the ultimate contest of wills.
